Education – Academic Background
Dr. Spyridon P. Kourouklis graduated from the School of Medicine of the University of Ioannina in 1998, having previously studied at the School of Veterinary Medicine of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He trained in Internal Medicine at the 401 General Military Hospital of Athens and completed his specialist training in Cardiology at the Hellenic Red Cross Hospital in 2008. He holds a PhD from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with his research focusing on the association between sleep apnoea syndrome and chronic systolic heart failure. He also holds international certifications from the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) in Cardiac Pacing and Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICDs), as well as in Invasive Cardiac Electrophysiology.

He has extensive experience in:

Scientific and Research Work
Dr. Spyridon P. Kourouklis has an extensive scientific record, with numerous publications in international medical journals and participation in major multicentre clinical studies, including BEAUTIFUL, HERCULES, SIGNIFY, ROCKET-AF and the MICRA Registry. He has served as an international Proctor for Medtronic, Vitatron and Boston Scientific, training physicians in cardiac device implantation, cryoablation and Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) techniques across several countries in Europe and Asia. He regularly participates as a speaker at international scientific conferences and has also contributed to the translation of important cardiology textbooks into Greek.
Current Position
Since August 2026, Dr. Spyridon P. Kourouklis has been an Exclusive Associate Cardiologist – Electrophysiologist at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus. With more than twenty years of experience and thousands of successful cardiac device implantation and arrhythmia ablation procedures, he provides specialised diagnosis and treatment for patients with cardiac rhythm disorders, applying advanced technologies and contemporary international clinical guidelines.
