Education – Academic Background
Dr. Dimitrios Tagkoulis was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Sapienza University of Rome (Università degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza”). Following graduation, he completed his compulsory rural medical service at the Katomeri Regional Medical Centre in Lefkada from 2012 to 2013. He subsequently trained in Internal Medicine at the Skylitseio General Hospital of Chios, where he also gained clinical experience in Cardiology. From 2016 to 2019, he continued his specialist training at the Hellenic Red Cross Hospital in Athens, with a focus on cardiology, Coronary Care Unit practice, and the management of acute cardiovascular emergencies in the Emergency Department. He completed his specialist training in Cardiology at the Korgialenio-Benakio Hellenic Red Cross Hospital of Athens, obtaining his specialist qualification in Cardiology.

Dr. Dimitrios Tagkoulis specialises in Clinical and Interventional Cardiology, with particular interests in:
- Transthoracic and Transoesophageal Echocardiography (TTE / TEE)
- Holter monitoring and cardiac rhythm assessment

Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Dimitrios Tagkoulis has extensive clinical experience in major hospitals in Greece, with particular involvement in the management of acute cardiovascular conditions, Coronary Care Unit patients, and interventional cardiology procedures. Throughout his specialist training and professional career, he has gained experience in contemporary diagnostic and interventional cardiology techniques, including stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, coronary interventions, and procedures related to the diagnosis and management of cardiac arrhythmias. He maintains an active interest in continuing medical education and the application of contemporary evidence-based approaches in Clinical and Interventional Cardiology.
Current Position
Since June 2020, Dr. Dimitrios Tagkoulis has been an Exclusive Consultant Cardiologist at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing comprehensive cardiovascular care and specialised interventional cardiology services. His clinical practice encompasses the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of a broad spectrum of cardiovascular conditions, with particular emphasis on interventional procedures and individualised, evidence-based patient care.
