Education – Academic Background
Dr. Skevi Neofytidou was born in Engomi, Cyprus, in 1986. After graduating from Kykkos A’ Lyceum in Nicosia in 2003, she moved to Germany, where she completed intensive German language training before entering the School of Medicine at Goethe University Frankfurt (Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main). She was awarded a scholarship by the Cyprus State Scholarship Foundation and graduated in 2010 with Distinction, subsequently obtaining her licence to practise medicine. From 2011 to 2018, she trained in Anaesthesiology at the University Medical Centre Mannheim in Germany. In 2018, she obtained an additional qualification in Emergency Medicine, followed by her specialist qualification in Anaesthesiology in 2019. Dr. Skevi Neofytidou also holds a Doctorate from the Faculty of Medicine of Heidelberg University, with research focusing on pulmonary arterial hypertension and oxygenation in experimental models.

Dr. Skevi Neofytidou has actively participated in international research projects and has contributed to publications in internationally recognised scientific journals. Her research focuses on pulmonary vascular disease, intensive care medicine and pharmacological interventions in pulmonary hypertension. She has participated in studies published in journals including Intensive Care Medicine and PLoS One, investigating the effects of pharmacological agents on pulmonary haemodynamics and oxygenation. Her doctoral research focused specifically on potassium channel activators and their effects on pulmonary hypertension.
Current Position
Since June 2024, Dr. Skevi Neofytidou has been an Exclusive Consultant Physician at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing specialised services in Anaesthesiology, perioperative support and the care of critically ill patients. She actively contributes to the hospital’s surgical and intensive care services, applying her extensive clinical training in anaesthesia, emergency medicine and critical care to the comprehensive management of patients.
