Education – Academic Background

Dr Eufemia Pambouka is a Specialist Anaesthesiologist. She graduated from the University of Szeged, Hungary, in 2018, obtaining her Medical Degree (Integrated Master’s). Her thesis was entitled “Neuropsychiatric Aspects of Hyponatremia.” She completed her specialist training in Anaesthesiology at the University General Hospital of Heraklion, where she trained from January 2021 to July 2026, and obtained her Specialist Qualification in Anaesthesiology in March 2026. During her specialist training, she gained experience across a broad range of general and regional anaesthetic techniques, difficult airway management, invasive haemodynamic monitoring and Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS). Her training also included six months in Intensive Care Medicine, as well as experience in Emergency Medicine and the management of critically ill patients. She has completed specialised training in regional anaesthesia, perioperative pain management, haemorrhage management and pre-hospital emergency medicine. She is also certified as an ALS Provider and APLS Provider.

During her specialist training, she gained clinical experience in anaesthetic care across Trauma and Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Maxillofacial Surgery, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, as well as Paediatric Surgery.

Scientific and Research Work

Dr Eufemia Pambouka has participated in scientific work and presentations, with a particular interest in chronic pain management and pain medicine. In 2024, she participated in an oral presentation at the 14th Panhellenic Congress of Algology in Heraklion, focusing on the indications for intravenous ketamine infusion in patients with chronic pain, based on a retrospective patient study and literature review. In 2026, she contributed to scientific work presented at the 15th Panhellenic Congress of Algology in Katerini, addressing end-of-life care, international guidelines, practical recommendations and the relevant institutional framework.

Current Position

Since October 2026, Dr Eufemia Pambouka has been working as a Specialist Anaesthesiologist at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing specialised anaesthetic care and contributing to the safe perioperative management of patients.
