Education – Academic Background
Dr. Eleni Sioka graduated from the School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1996–2002), obtaining her Medical Degree (MD). She subsequently completed her specialist training in General Surgery at the University Hospital of Larissa (2006–2012), serving as Chief Resident during the final two years of her training. She also holds an MSc in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery and an MSc in Research Methodology. From October 2012 to March 2013, she completed a Fellowship in Bariatric Surgery at the IFSO Centre of Excellence, University of Patras.

Dr. Eleni Sioka specialises in General, Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery, with a particular clinical and scientific interest in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery. Her main areas of interest include:

- Management of obesity and metabolic disorders
- Preoperative and postoperative care of bariatric patients
Scientific and Research Work
Dr. Eleni Sioka has significant clinical, academic and research experience, with active participation in multicentre studies, scientific conferences and publications. She has participated in more than 40 scientific conferences, accumulating a total of 362 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits. Her scientific presentations include 34 oral presentations at Greek conferences, 6 oral presentations at international conferences, 7 poster presentations and 3 video presentations. Her research activity includes studies in bariatric surgery and eating behaviour following Sleeve Gastrectomy, as well as participation in a multicentre study investigating the use of stem cells in the treatment of liver cirrhosis, in collaboration with centres in the United Kingdom, France and Serbia. She has also authored or co-authored 48 scientific publications and has received awards at both Greek and international scientific conferences.
Current Position
Since April 2026, Dr. Eleni Sioka has been an Exclusive Consultant at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing specialised surgical services with particular emphasis on General and Laparoscopic Surgery, as well as Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery. As part of her role, she is actively involved in the clinical assessment and surgical management of patients, preoperative planning and postoperative follow-up, contributing to continuity of care in accordance with the Hospital’s clinical protocols and standards.
