Education – Academic Background
Dr. Zisis Touloumis was born in Athens in 1969. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Federico II University of Naples in 1999 and obtained his licence to practise medicine in both Italy and Greece in 2000. In 2009, he completed his specialist training in General Surgery and was awarded the title of Specialist Surgeon by the Greek Ministry of Health. His surgical training was primarily undertaken at Konstantopouleio General Hospital of Nea Ionia “Agia Olga”, with a particular focus on Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) Surgery. He has also completed numerous postgraduate programmes and specialised training courses in laparoscopic surgery, colorectal surgery, surgical oncology, thyroid surgery, and trauma surgery.

Dr. Zisis Touloumis specialises in General and Surgical Oncology, with particular interests in:
- Surgical Oncology, including breast, colorectal, liver, biliary, and pancreatic surgery

- Colorectal surgery

- Trauma and emergency surgery
Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Zisis Touloumis has an extensive scientific and research background, with publications in international peer-reviewed journals and contributions to scientific chapters in medical textbooks. He has presented scientific work at national and international conferences and has participated in international multicentre studies. His research interests focus on surgical oncology, hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, colorectal surgery, and trauma surgery. He is an active member of several scientific and professional organisations, including the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), the European Association for Digestive Surgery, the Hellenic Society for Digestive Surgery, and the Hellenic Society of Endoscopic Surgery. He also serves as a peer reviewer for international scientific journals, including World Journal of Surgical Oncology, BMJ Case Reports, Medical Science Monitor, Cureus, Oncology Letters, and the Journal of International Medical Research.
Current Position
Since May 2026, Dr. Zisis Touloumis has been working as an Exclusive Consultant at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing specialised services in Surgical Oncology and General Surgery.
