Education – Academic Background

Dr. Fotini Alourda graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2014 with a “Very Good” grade. She subsequently specialised in Neurology, completing her training at the Pammakaristos General Hospital of Athens, and obtained her specialist qualification in Neurology in 2023. During her specialist training, she received additional clinical education in several specialised areas of Neurology, including Neuroimaging at Evangelismos General Hospital, Electromyography (EMG) at the 251 Hellenic Air Force General Hospital, Electroencephalography (EEG), as well as Psychiatry at Eginition Hospital. She gained extensive clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of neurological disorders through her training and clinical work at Pammakaristos General Hospital and the General Hospital of Rhodes. She also holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Cyprus and has completed the Pedagogical and Teaching Proficiency Programme (EPPAIK) at ASPETE, further strengthening both her scientific and educational background.

Dr. Fotini Alourda has been actively involved in clinical research and multicentre European studies, particularly in the field of Multiple Sclerosis. She has authored and co-authored scientific publications in international medical journals, with research focusing on headache disorders, epilepsy, and neurological manifestations of rare diseases. She has presented numerous oral and poster presentations at national and international scientific conferences on topics including cerebrovascular disease, Multiple Sclerosis, neurodegenerative disorders, neuroinfections, rare neurological syndromes, and clinically challenging neurological cases. She regularly participates in scientific conferences and educational activities organised by the Hellenic Neurological Society and other professional organisations, maintaining continuous professional development and keeping up to date with advances in modern Neurology.

Current Position

Since September 2023, Dr. Fotini Alourda has been an Exclusive Consultant Neurologist at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic, and follow-up services for patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. Her clinical practice is based on current scientific evidence and an individualised, patient-centred approach, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality neurological care and improving patients’ quality of life.
