Education – Academic Background
Dr. Michalis Kakas has extensive training and experience in General Surgery and Trauma Management. Throughout his professional career, he has completed a number of internationally recognised training programmes, including:
- Advanced Life Support (ALS)
- Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS)
- Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP)
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
- Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
- Definitive Surgical Trauma Care (DSTC)
He has also served as an instructor for ATLS and PHTLS, actively contributing to the training of healthcare professionals in emergency trauma management.

Scientific and Research Work
Dr. Michalis Kakas has maintained a longstanding presence in the academic and medical education community. He has been a member of the Royal College of Surgeons and has served as an Honorary Professor and Professor at St George’s University. He has participated in scientific and educational activities focusing on Trauma and Emergency Surgery.He has also taken part in humanitarian missions with Médecins du Monde in Nagorno-Karabakh and Bosnia, providing surgical care in demanding humanitarian settings.
Current Position
Since January 2016, Dr. Michalis Kakas has been an Exclusive Consultant at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, contributing to the provision of specialised surgical services, the management of emergency surgical cases and the development of modern trauma care in Cyprus.
