Education – Academic Background
Dr. Konstantinos Koutsouvas is a Specialist General Surgeon at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus. He graduated from the School of Medicine of the University of Patras and obtained his specialist qualification in General Surgery following extensive training at the 3rd Department of Surgery of the General Hospital of Athens “G. Gennimatas”, one of Greece’s major referral centres. During his specialist training, he gained broad experience across the full spectrum of General Surgery and participated in a large number of complex surgical procedures.

Dr. Konstantinos Koutsouvas has a particular clinical and scientific interest in:
- Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery
- Surgical Oncology
- Minimally Invasive and Laparoscopic Surgery
- Trauma Surgery
- Emergency Surgery
- Management of polytrauma patients
His principal area of interest is Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery. He continues his advanced training through the international ESSO HPB Cancer Training Pathway, which includes specialised educational programmes in liver and pancreatic surgery at leading European centres. He is a Senior Member of the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA) and the European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA), as well as a member of the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) and the Hellenic Society of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery. He has also undertaken advanced training in Trauma and Emergency Surgery, including the 27th Postgraduate Programme in Emergency Prehospital Medicine of EKAB, Definitive Surgical Trauma Care (DSTC), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and the Neck & Subclavian Trauma Dissection Course. He is an active member of the International Association for Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care (IATSIC) and the Hellenic Society of Trauma and Emergency Surgery.
Scientific and Research Work
Dr. Konstantinos Koutsouvas is actively involved in minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery. He completed the IRCAD Intensive Laparoscopic Surgery Course in Strasbourg and obtained the corresponding University Diploma from the University of Strasbourg. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Minimally Invasive Surgery, Robotic Surgery and Telesurgery from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is a member of the Hellenic Surgical Society and the International Society of Surgery (ISS/SIC) and actively participates in international conferences, specialised training programmes and scientific activities. His professional development remains focused on contemporary surgical techniques and the provision of personalised, evidence-based surgical care.
Current Position
Since October 2023, Dr. Konstantinos Koutsouvas has been an Exclusive Consultant at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing specialised surgical care with particular emphasis on Emergency Surgery, Surgical Oncology and the management of polytrauma patients.
