Education – Academic Background
Dr. Alkistie Nikolaou holds a PhD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and an MSc in Minimally Invasive Techniques, Robotic Surgery and Telesurgery. She graduated from the School of Medicine of the Democritus University of Thrace and completed her specialist training in General Surgery at Laiko General Hospital of Athens. Her doctoral thesis focused on the molecular analysis of liver regeneration and was completed with distinction. She has also commenced postgraduate specialisation in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery.

Her clinical practice incorporates modern minimally invasive surgical techniques aimed at reducing surgical trauma and supporting faster patient recovery. She also has experience in the management of complex benign and oncological HPB conditions, as well as personalised surgical approaches to obesity and associated metabolic disorders.
Scientific and Research Work
Dr. Alkistie Nikolaou has an extensive scientific background, with publications in international and Greek medical journals and active participation as a speaker at scientific conferences. She was a founding member of the Hellenic Society of Breast Surgery and is a member of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery and the Cyprus Surgical Society. Her academic and research interests include minimally invasive surgery, breast surgery, HPB surgery and the molecular mechanisms involved in liver regeneration.
Current Position
Since October 2019, Dr. Alkistie Nikolaou has been an Exclusive Consultant at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus. With extensive experience in major hospitals in Greece and Cyprus, she actively contributes to clinical and educational activities and provides specialised surgical care across a broad range of surgical procedures.
