Education – Academic Background
Dr. Adonis Panagides was born and raised in Nicosia, Cyprus. After graduating from Makarios III Dasyoupolis Lyceum and completing his military service, he moved to Germany, where he studied Medicine at the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel. Following graduation, he worked for approximately 18 months in the Department of Internal Medicine at Klinikum Reinkenheide in Bremerhaven. He subsequently continued his surgical training at Elbe Klinikum in Stade, with particular emphasis on Gastrointestinal and Oncological Surgery. Between 2008 and 2017, he gained extensive experience across the full spectrum of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery. In 2017, he obtained his specialist qualification in Gastrointestinal Surgery.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Adonis Panagides specialises in General and Gastrointestinal Surgery, with particular emphasis on minimally invasive techniques. His main areas of interest include:
- Laparoscopic gallbladder surgery
- Laparoscopic appendectomy
- Colorectal surgery
- Gastrointestinal oncological surgery
- Hernia surgery, including inguinal, umbilical and incisional hernias
- Emergency General Surgery
- Advanced Proctology, including laser techniques and sphincter repair
Scientific and Research Work
Dr. Adonis Panagides actively participates in scientific conferences and educational programmes within the European surgical community. He has trained at specialised centres in Germany, gaining experience in the application of modern surgical techniques and evidence-based treatment protocols in Gastrointestinal Surgery. He also participates in scientific meetings, educational activities and multidisciplinary processes related to the oncological management of surgical patients.
Current Position
Since August 2023, Dr. Adonis Panagides has been an Exclusive Consultant at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus in Limassol, specialising in Gastrointestinal and Proctological Surgery.
