Education – Academic Background
Dr Georgios Saraglis is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and a graduate of the School of Medicine of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He holds the internationally recognised MRCS and FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons, reflecting his advanced training in Orthopaedic Surgery and Trauma. He holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Applied Biomechanics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and is currently a PhD candidate at the same University, with his research focusing on the application of biomechanics in Orthopaedics. His postgraduate training includes certifications and specialised courses in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Surgical Skills (BSS), Care of the Critically Injured Surgical Patient (CCRISP) and AO Principles of Fracture Management, as well as advanced training in hip and knee arthroplasty, arthroscopic surgery, trauma surgery, upper limb surgery, and foot and ankle reconstruction.
Areas of Interest
Dr Georgios Saraglis specialises in Orthopaedic Surgery and Trauma, with particular interests in primary and complex revision hip and knee arthroplasty, periprosthetic fracture management, complex lower limb trauma and reconstruction, and sports injuries. He has extensive experience in the management of complex orthopaedic cases, with more than 2,500 documented operative procedures. His surgical experience includes primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, knee arthroscopy, meniscal repair, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, management of complex fractures, as well as upper limb, shoulder, hand, foot and ankle surgery. He has gained significant international clinical experience in major hospitals and Major Trauma Centres in the United Kingdom, including Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and the Royal London Hospital, with particular experience in complex lower limb trauma, revision arthroplasty, periprosthetic fractures and advanced orthopaedic reconstruction techniques.
Scientific and Research Work
Dr Georgios Saraglis has an active scientific, research and educational profile, with publications in international peer-reviewed journals, including SICOT-J, Acta Orthopaedica and Cureus. His research covers arthroplasty, shoulder surgery, ankle injuries and the complex management of fractures. His doctoral research focuses on the biomechanical analysis of linked nail–plate constructs for distal femur fractures. He has presented scientific work at major international and national conferences, including the EFORT World Congress, SICOT World Congress and British Orthopaedic Association Congress. He has been awarded the Norwich Cup for the highest national examination performance, was nominated for the Jacques Duparc Award at EFORT, and received Second Prize for Best Poster Presentation at the BAPIO Conference. In parallel, he is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. He teaches Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery to medical students at the University of Cambridge at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and has contributed to undergraduate medical education at the University of Cyprus Medical School. He has also served as an OSCE Examiner at King’s College London and participates in surgical skills training and FRCS examination preparation programmes.
Current Position
Since September 2026, Dr Georgios Saraglis has been working as an Orthopaedic Surgeon, providing specialised care for musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. His clinical practice focuses particularly on hip and knee arthroplasty, complex revision surgery, orthopaedic trauma and sports injuries, drawing on his extensive international surgical experience.
