Education – Academic Background

Dr. Artemis Petrou graduated from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2010. She subsequently moved to Germany, where she completed five years of specialist training in Paediatrics, initially at the Department of Paediatrics of Evangelisches Krankenhaus Lippstadt and later at the University Department of Paediatrics of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, where she obtained her specialist qualification in Paediatrics. She then completed three years of subspecialty training in Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at Universitätsklinikum Magdeburg, receiving her official subspecialty qualification from the Medical Association of Saxony-Anhalt in 2022.

Research and Scientific Work

During her subspecialty training at Universitätsklinikum Magdeburg, Dr. Artemis Petrou was actively involved in the clinical work of the Paediatric Oncology Department. In parallel, she worked as a Research Assistant for the MET Register, a nationwide German database dedicated to the registration and study of neuroendocrine tumours in children.

She received specialised training in paediatric ultrasound as an important diagnostic and monitoring tool in paediatric haematological and oncological conditions. She also contributed to the education of junior doctors, serving as an instructor in paediatric ultrasound training seminars.

Current Position

Since January 2026, Dr. Artemis Petrou has been working as an Exclusive Consultant at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus. She provides specialised care in the investigation and management of paediatric haematological disorders, including coagulation disorders, haemoglobinopathies, lymphadenopathy, suspected malignancies, and immunodeficiencies. The Department provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for benign blood disorders, as well as specialised follow-up and care for paediatric haematology and oncology patients.
