Education – Academic Background
Dr. Anastasia Sofroni graduated from the Medical University of Plovdiv in 2018. She subsequently completed her specialist training in General / Family Medicine in January 2025, successfully obtaining her specialist qualification on her first attempt. During her training, she gained extensive clinical experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients across all age groups. Her training focused on the management of acute and chronic medical conditions, preventive medicine and health promotion, emergency care, and the performance of essential medical procedures. Following completion of her specialty training, she continued working at Laiko General Hospital of Athens, initially as an extended-term resident and subsequently as a specialist physician, further developing her clinical experience within a hospital environment.

Scientific and Research Work
Dr. Anastasia Sofroni has been actively involved in research and scientific publications, particularly in the fields of Public Health and COVID-19. She has contributed to scientific publications including “Reported COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage and Associated Factors among Members of Athens Medical Association” and “The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Elite Swimmers and Water Polo Players: Lessons for the Future”, published in Epidemiologia. She has also participated in scientific conferences, including the 48th Panhellenic Medical Congress, where she contributed to a presentation addressing the impact of COVID-19 within the community.
Current Position
Since May 2025, Dr. Anastasia Sofroni has been working as a Consultant Physician at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing comprehensive General and Family Medicine services. Her clinical practice focuses on Primary Healthcare, preventive medicine, chronic disease management, and comprehensive patient care, with an emphasis on continuity of care and an individualised approach to patients across all age groups.
