Education – Academic Background
Dr. Panayiota Tsiakka graduated from the European University Cyprus School of Medicine in 2026, earning her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with Cum Laude distinction. During her studies, she completed more than 2,800 hours of supervised clinical training across university, public, and private hospitals, as well as specialised medical centres in Cyprus. She also participated in the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus Summer School Program for Medical Students 2025, gaining valuable experience in a modern hospital environment.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Panayiota Tsiakka has a particular interest in Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Emergency Medicine, with an emphasis on comprehensive clinical assessment, patient care, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Her extensive clinical training and participation in surgical skills educational activities reflect her commitment to continuous professional development and the provision of high-quality healthcare.
Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Panayiota Tsiakka completed her thesis entitled “Postpartum Depression versus Depression Following Unintended Pregnancy Carried to Term: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis”, focusing on the systematic evaluation of international literature on postpartum depression and depression following an unintended pregnancy carried to term.
She is also actively involved in the scientific and medical education community through conferences and educational activities. She has served as a member of the Organising Committee for the 7th and 8th CAMeSM, as a round-table coordinator, and as an instructor in surgical skills workshops, including suturing and laparoscopic surgery. In addition, she serves as a Pharmacology Peer Teacher at European University Cyprus.
Current Position
Since July 2026, Dr. Panayiota Tsiakka has been working as a physician in the Accident & Emergency Department (A&E) at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus. With a strong academic background, extensive clinical training, and active involvement in medical education and the scientific community, she provides responsible and personalised patient care, with a strong commitment to evidence-based medical practice, continuous professional development, and effective collaboration within the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
