Education – Academic Background
Dr. Mary Karampila graduated from the School of Medicine of the University of Ioannina in 2010. As part of her clinical education, she completed a clinical placement at the Department of Surgery of the Royal Free Hospital, University College London, in the United Kingdom. She subsequently trained in Internal Medicine at Limassol General Hospital and in Pulmonology at Nicosia General Hospital, before completing her specialist training in General and Family Medicine at Limassol and Nicosia General Hospitals. In addition, she obtained certification in Medical Acupuncture (ICMART) and holds internationally recognised certifications in Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). She has also completed specialised training in emergency ultrasound through the EUSEM Ultrasound Course.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Mary Karampila specialises in General and Family Medicine, with a particular interest in preventive medicine, chronic disease management, Primary Healthcare, and Emergency Medicine. She adopts a holistic approach to patient care, incorporating contemporary and complementary therapeutic methods, including Medical Acupuncture, with the aim of improving patients’ overall health and quality of life.
Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Mary Karampila actively participates in continuing medical education programmes and specialised training courses in General Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and ultrasonography. Her ongoing professional development, together with her international ALS, ATLS, and ICMART certifications and her specialised training in emergency ultrasound through EUSEM, reflects her commitment to continuous scientific advancement and the application of contemporary, evidence-based medical practices.
Current Position
Since November 2023, Dr. Mary Karampila has been working as an Exclusive Consultant Physician at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus. In her current role, she provides comprehensive Primary Healthcare services, with an emphasis on prevention, early diagnosis, long-term patient follow-up, and individualised medical care.
