Education – Academic Background
Dr. Evangelia Tsoukana-Psaltaki graduated from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2003. During her medical studies, she was recognised for her academic performance and was awarded an annual scholarship by the Vardinogiannis Foundation. She began her medical career as a Rural Doctor at Spili Health Centre in Rethymno, Crete. She subsequently undertook specialist training in Paediatrics at the University General Hospital of Heraklion (PAGNI), completing her specialist qualification in 2013. She has also participated in continuing medical education programmes and specialised training seminars. In addition, she has completed two years of training in sign language, further enhancing her ability to communicate effectively with patients and families.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Evangelia Tsoukana-Psaltaki practises across the full spectrum of General Paediatrics, providing comprehensive primary and secondary care to infants, children, and adolescents. Her main clinical interests include:
- Monitoring the growth and development of newborns, infants, and children
- Preventive Paediatrics and vaccinations
- Diagnosis and management of acute and chronic paediatric conditions
- Paediatric emergencies
- Parental counselling on children’s health, nutrition, growth, and development
- Health promotion and disease prevention throughout childhood
Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Evangelia Tsoukana-Psaltaki actively participates in scientific conferences, educational seminars, and continuing professional development programmes in Paediatrics, maintaining an ongoing commitment to the latest developments in her specialty. She has been a member of the Athens Medical Association since 2013 and the Pan-Cretan Paediatric Society since 2008. She is fluent in English and French and has a good command of Spanish, supporting effective communication with patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
Current Position
Since April 2017, Dr. Evangelia Tsoukana-Psaltaki has been working as an Exclusive Consultant at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing comprehensive paediatric care through the Hospital’s Paediatric Department and Emergency Department. In her current role, she contributes to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care of paediatric patients, with an emphasis on safe, individualised, and family-centred care.
