Education – Academic Background
Dr. Lamprini Giannakidi graduated from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She completed her specialist training in Paediatrics at the Department of Paediatrics of Panarkadiko General Hospital of Tripoli and the First Department of Paediatrics of the University of Athens at “Agia Sofia” Children’s Hospital. Since 2023, she has also been attending the two-year postgraduate programme in “Strategies for Developmental and Adolescent Health” at the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, having successfully completed the core curriculum. She has undertaken extensive additional training in diabetes mellitus, Adolescent Medicine, Paediatric Emergency Care, and Paediatric Life Support.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Lamprini Giannakidi practises across the full spectrum of Paediatrics, with a particular interest in Paediatric Endocrinology, Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, Developmental and Adolescent Medicine, as well as preventive care and the long-term follow-up of children and adolescents. She has significant experience in the management of children with diabetes, including the use of insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems. Her clinical experience also encompasses comprehensive paediatric care in outpatient and hospital settings, as well as the assessment and care of newborns in the delivery room.
Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Lamprini Giannakidi regularly participates in national and international paediatric conferences and educational programmes, with particular involvement in Paediatric Endocrinology, Diabetes Mellitus, Developmental Paediatrics, Paediatric Allergy, and Adolescent Health. She presented scientific work at ESPE 2018 on the spectrum of genetic disorders associated with congenital adrenal hyperplasia in the Cypriot population. She is a member of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE), the Cyprus Paediatric Society, and the Cyprus Medical Association. She also actively participates in community and voluntary initiatives.
Current Position
Since July 2024, Dr. Lamprini Giannakidi has been working as an Exclusive Consultant Physician at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus. With extensive experience in Paediatrics, Paediatric Endocrinology, and the management of children with diabetes mellitus, she provides comprehensive diagnostic, preventive, and follow-up care for children and adolescents. Her clinical approach is centred on individualised, evidence-based care and close collaboration with families, with the aim of promoting the health, development, and overall well-being of children and adolescents.
