Education – Academic Background
Dr. Michalis Mantelas graduated from the School of Medicine of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1993. He began his postgraduate training in General Surgery at the Hippokration General Regional Hospital of Thessaloniki, where he trained for three years. He subsequently worked for a short period in the United Kingdom as a Locum Senior House Officer (SHO) before continuing his specialist training in Vascular Surgery at the “Korgialenio–Benakio” Hospital of the Hellenic Red Cross in Athens.He further advanced his training in the United Kingdom as an SpR Clinical Fellow at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London, gaining valuable experience in modern vascular surgical practice.

Scientific and Research Work
Dr. Michalis Mantelas has a longstanding professional presence in leading hospital and academic centres, contributing to the development and advancement of contemporary vascular surgical practice. He served initially as Consultant B and subsequently Consultant A within the Greek National Health System (ESY) at AHEPA University General Hospital of Thessaloniki. He later served as Consultant A at Papageorgiou General Hospital, where he remained until 2018. Following the completion of his hospital career within the Greek National Health System, he continued his clinical practice as a private Vascular Surgeon, maintaining an exclusive collaboration with Agios Loukas Hospital in Thessaloniki. His longstanding professional and scientific career reflects his continuous engagement with advances in Vascular Surgery and endovascular therapies.
Current Position
Since August 2024, Dr. Michalis Mantelas has been an Exclusive Associate Physician at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing specialised Vascular Surgery services with particular emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases, endovascular procedures and comprehensive care of patients with vascular conditions.
