Education – Academic Background

Dr Nansi Hadjievangelou is a Vascular Surgeon who graduated with honours (MBBS Hons) from Barts and The London Medical School in 2013. During her medical studies, she also obtained a BSc (Hons) in Surgery and Anaesthesia from Imperial College London. In 2016, she obtained the MRCS, followed by the FRCS (Vascular) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2024. She also completed the ChM in Vascular & Endovascular Surgery at the University of Edinburgh in 2021–2022, graduating with Distinction.
Her specialist training in Vascular Surgery was undertaken at major hospitals in the United Kingdom, including Frimley Park Hospital, University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust and Brighton and Sussex NHS Trust. From March 2025, she worked as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Areas of Interest

Dr Nansi Hadjievangelou has extensive experience in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, with clinical expertise in the surgical management of diseases affecting the aorta, carotid arteries and peripheral arteries, as well as advanced endovascular procedures. Her surgical experience includes open abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair, endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), carotid endarterectomy, femoral endarterectomy, lower-limb bypass surgery and endovascular interventions. She also has significant experience in vascular access procedures and the management of complex peripheral vascular disease.
She has undertaken further training in modern techniques for limb salvage, endovascular treatment of lower-limb vascular disease, vascular access and advanced aortic surgery.

Scientific and Research Work

Dr Nansi Hadjievangelou has an active scientific, research and educational portfolio. She has been Principal Investigator for the HAMLET Study since 2025 and has served as Assistant Principal Investigator for the STAR and SWISHI studies. Her research interests also include the application of artificial intelligence and smart technologies in the management of diabetic foot disease. She has published scientific work in international journals and presented her research at scientific conferences and symposia, covering areas including diabetic foot disease, peripheral vascular disease, renal transplantation and applications of artificial intelligence in vascular care. She is also actively involved in medical education, teaching junior doctors and medical students. She has served as a Clinical Supervisor, participated in selection panels for Core Surgical Training, and contributed as an examiner and interview panel member for medical students. Her scientific and clinical work has received several distinctions, including 1st Poster Prize from the British Society of Interventional Radiology (BSIR) in 2021, alongside other academic awards and honours.

Current Position

Since October 2026, Dr Nansi Hadjievangelou has been working as an Associate Physician – Vascular Surgeon, providing specialised care in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. Her clinical practice includes the management of conditions affecting the aorta, carotid arteries and peripheral arteries, as well as the use of modern open surgical and endovascular techniques.
