Dr. Vasiliki Apostolaki is a Cardiologist at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus with a special interest in the management of patients with Heart Failure and Emergency Medicine. She is a graduate of the Medical School of the University of Patras and a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Pharmacology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
After graduating from medical school (2008-2014), she served as a rural doctor at the Health Center of Thermo in Aetolia-Acarnania and completed her specialty in Internal Medicine at the General Hospital of Agrinio in her hometown. She then successfully completed her Cardiology specialty at the General Hospital of Athens “I Elpis” (2018-2022), where, among other things, she worked in Clinical Cardiology in the Myocardial Infarction Unit, as well as in the Special Heart Failure and Exercise Testing Clinic. Additionally, she obtained the European specialty title in Cardiology, as well as a Master’s degree in the program “Arterial Hypertension and Associated Cardiovascular and Renal Diseases,” graduating with “Excellent” honors (2022).
During the pandemic, she actively participated in monitoring the cardiovascular complications of severely ill COVID-19 patients in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Athens “I Elpis,” which also became the subject of her doctoral thesis. At the same time, she was involved as a member of the Crisis Management Team (CMT) of the National Emergency Medical Service (EKAV) in Athens.
Regarding Emergency Medicine, Dr. Apostolaki is certified in Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and she has obtained the recognized diploma in Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine (27th EPİ-EKAV Athens) after successfully completing a program of courses and written/oral exams in the academic year 2022-2023.
To date, she actively participates in Greek and international conferences and journals, either as a speaker or through her written work.
