Education – Academic Background
Dr. Efthymios Choidis graduated from the University of Debrecen Medical School in Hungary in 2004, earning his M.D. degree Cum Laude. He completed his specialist training in Paediatric Surgery in 2016, having previously trained in General Surgery and Paediatric Surgery at hospitals in Greece, including Giannitsa General Hospital, Larissa General Hospital, and “Agia Sofia” Children’s Hospital in Athens. He also undertook specialised postgraduate training at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff and University Hospital Southampton in the United Kingdom, gaining significant experience in advanced paediatric surgical procedures and minimally invasive techniques.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Efthymios Choidis practises across the full spectrum of Paediatric Surgery, with a particular interest in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, neonatal surgery, paediatric urology, and paediatric surgical oncology. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and surgical management of congenital anomalies, gastrointestinal and urinary tract conditions, as well as paediatric surgical emergencies. He applies contemporary surgical techniques with the aim of providing safe and effective treatment for children of all ages.
Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Efthymios Choidis is actively involved in the scientific community of Paediatric Surgery through publications, scientific presentations, and participation in national and international conferences. He has presented scientific work on laparoscopic surgery, paediatric surgical conditions, and neonatal surgery and has contributed to publications in international scientific journals. He also regularly attends specialised educational programmes and postgraduate training courses in Greece and abroad, remaining up to date with developments and advances in modern Paediatric Surgery.
Current Position
Since October 2024, Dr. Efthymios Choidis has been working as an Exclusive Consultant at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing specialised Paediatric Surgery services. With extensive experience gained at leading hospitals in Greece and the United Kingdom, he provides comprehensive diagnosis, surgical treatment, and follow-up of paediatric surgical conditions, with an emphasis on modern, individualised, and safe care for children and their families.
