Education – Academic Background

Dr. Mairoula Arvaniti graduated from the School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and completed her specialist training in Diagnostic Radiology at the “Georgios Papanikolaou” General Hospital of Thessaloniki. She holds a doctoral degree and has completed six postgraduate training programmes in modern diagnostic imaging techniques, with specialised training in ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). One of her postgraduate training placements took place in the United States at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, in Atlanta, Georgia, with a focus on paediatric imaging. She was also selected to participate in the CTII Course in the Protection of Human Research Subjects in the United States, following an evaluation and interview based on her scientific work and professional background.

Dr. Mairoula Arvaniti has extensive experience in Diagnostic Radiology and advanced medical imaging, with particular interest in:

  • Advanced diagnostic imaging of complex clinical cases

Her longstanding clinical and scientific activity has established her as an active member of the academic and scientific Radiology community, both in Greece and internationally.

Scientific and Research Work

Dr. Mairoula Arvaniti served as a member of the three-member examination committee for the award of the specialist qualification in Diagnostic Radiology in Northern Greece from 2015 to 2020, and subsequently for Northern Greece, Thrace, Epirus and Thessaly from 2020 to 2021, following a decision by the Ministry of Health. In 2003, she was a keynote speaker at the Southern Pediatric Radiology Society Annual Meeting in Atlanta, USA, presenting on paediatric radiology. She also actively participated in the organising committee of the Society’s meeting held in Greece in 2006, which brought together internationally recognised paediatric radiologists.

Her scientific and academic activity includes:

  • 87 lectures at conferences and round-table discussions in Greece and abroad
  • Chairing 41 scientific sessions and round-table discussions
  • Contributions to the authorship of 7 medical books
  • 254 presentations at Greek scientific conferences
  • 42 presentations at international scientific conferences
  • 52 publications in Greek scientific journals
  • 21 publications in international scientific journals

In addition, she has attended more than 380 Greek conferences and scientific meetings, as well as 40 international scientific conferences.

Current Position

Since November 2022, Dr. Mairoula Arvaniti has been working as a Radiologist at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing specialised diagnostic radiology services and contributing to the accurate imaging assessment, diagnosis and follow-up of patients.
