Education – Academic Background
Dr. Charalampos Karakatsanis entered the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2008 and graduated in 2014 with a grade of “Very Good”. He obtained his licence to practise medicine in 2014. He completed his rural medical service at the Giannitsou Regional Medical Centre of the Makrakomi Health Centre from 2015 to 2016. He subsequently specialised in Internal Medicine at the 1st Department of Internal Medicine of Laiko General Hospital of Athens from 2017 to 2022, obtaining his specialist qualification in Internal Medicine in 2022. He then pursued specialised training in Intensive Care Medicine in an Intensive Care Unit from 2023 to 2025, obtaining his qualification in Intensive Care Medicine in 2025.

Scientific and Research Work
Dr. Charalampos Karakatsanis participates in clinical studies focusing on Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) and ventilator-associated pneumonia (POS-VAP). In 2025, he published the scientific paper “Heterotopic ossification in COVID-19: A case report” in the journal Pneumon. He also contributed to the authorship of a medical textbook chapter entitled “Albumin” in 2025.
Current Position
Since September 2025, Dr. Charalampos Karakatsanis has been an Exclusive Consultant at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing specialised care in Internal Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine, with particular emphasis on the management of critically ill patients.
