Education – Academic Background
Dr. Marios A. Theodotou graduated from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1982. He subsequently pursued postgraduate medical training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, obtaining his specialist qualification in Internal Medicine in 1990 and his specialist qualification in Cardiology in 2003. In 1989, he was awarded a PhD with distinction from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In 2004, he also completed specialised training in Infectious Diseases at Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens.

Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Marios A. Theodotou has extensive clinical, research, and academic experience. From 1983 to 1985, he trained across various departments at Limassol General Hospital, before continuing his training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens from 1985 to 1990. Throughout his academic career, he has served as a Visiting Professor of Medicine at Damascus Central Hospital, a Lecturer in Cardiology at Barts Medical School in London, and a Senior Lecturer in Internal Medicine at the University of Nicosia Medical School. His research work includes his doctoral thesis, clinical studies, and scientific publications in national and international medical journals. Of particular significance is his research into the use of resveratrol in arterial hypertension and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, which led to the granting of a United States patent in 2022. He is a member of the Cyprus Society of Internal Medicine, the Cyprus Society of Cardiology, and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), and regularly participates in scientific conferences and educational activities in Cyprus and abroad.
Current Position
Since April 2026, Dr. Marios A. Theodotou has been working as an Internal Medicine Specialist and Cardiologist at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic, and follow-up services for patients with internal medicine and cardiovascular conditions. With extensive clinical experience and a longstanding career in medical practice since 1990, he actively contributes to the management of hospitalised patients and complex clinical cases, with an emphasis on contemporary, evidence-based, and individualised patient care.
