Education – Academic Background
Dr. Evangelos Vasileiadis graduated from the School of Medicine of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in July 1994. He completed his specialist training in General and Internal Medicine in Ioannina and obtained his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in September 2007. He holds full specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) of the United Kingdom.
He has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) since 2011, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, and a Fellow of the European Stroke Organisation. He is also a member of several prominent British scientific and professional organisations.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Evangelos Vasileiadis has more than 18 years of experience as a Consultant, with particular expertise in Stroke Medicine and Internal Medicine. His main clinical interests include the acute management of stroke, transient ischaemic attacks (TIA), thrombolysis, secondary stroke prevention and neurorehabilitation. He has extensive experience in the comprehensive clinical assessment of stroke patients with complex needs and in coordinating multidisciplinary teams to support rehabilitation and safe hospital discharge. He has also provided specialist care for particularly complex cases at Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals, including heart and lung transplant recipients and patients with advanced heart failure supported by ventricular assist devices (VADs) who suffered a stroke.
Scientific and Research Work
Dr. Evangelos Vasileiadis has extensive scientific, research, educational and leadership experience in the United Kingdom. He has served as Stroke Operational Lead for Northwest London and as a member of the Pan-London Stroke Clinical Leadership Group, contributing to the development of policies and guidelines for the delivery of stroke services across London. He also served as Chair of the Pan-London Cardiovascular Prevention Steering Group, contributing to the development of cardiovascular prevention strategies.
He has significant experience in medical education as an Accredited Educational Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, Imperial College medical student educator and examiner. He has delivered lectures at local, regional, national and international levels and has received several distinctions for his contribution to medical education, including a Teaching Excellence Award from Imperial College Medical School and a Clinical Supervisor Award from Hillingdon Hospital.
In the field of research, he has participated as Principal Investigator in the SOSTART, RESTART and BRAINS studies and has authored publications in international scientific journals, including BMJ Open, Journal of Hospital Infection and BMJ Case Reports.
Current Position
Since September 2026, Dr. Evangelos Vasileiadis has been an Exclusive Associate Physician at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, bringing his extensive clinical experience in Internal Medicine and Stroke Medicine. He has specialised expertise in the assessment and management of patients with stroke and transient ischaemic attacks (TIA), as well as in secondary stroke prevention and neurorehabilitation.
