Education – Academic Background
Dr. Isaak Ovadias graduated from the Medical University of Pleven in Bulgaria, obtaining his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 2018. He has also completed specialised training programmes in Emergency Medicine and Clinical Nutrition and holds an Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification. In addition, he has received training in non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and is a member of the Hellenic Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (GrESPEN). Dr. Ovadias completed his specialist training in Internal Medicine at AHEPA University General Hospital of Thessaloniki, where he gained experience across the full spectrum of internal medicine conditions, alongside additional training in specialised Haematology, Gastroenterology, and Infectious Diseases units.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Isaak Ovadias specialises in Internal Medicine, with a particular interest in infectious diseases, Emergency Medicine, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, and cardiometabolic syndrome. He has particular experience in Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS), the prevention and management of healthcare-associated infections, and the care of patients with complex medical conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. His clinical interests also include the appropriate use of antimicrobial therapy, infection prevention and control, and the comprehensive management of patients with multiple medical conditions.
Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Isaak Ovadias has developed extensive clinical experience through his specialist training and involvement in infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship initiatives. During his training at AHEPA University General Hospital of Thessaloniki, he served as a Senior Resident from 2023 to 2024 and gained additional experience in specialised clinical services, including Haematology, Gastroenterology, and Infectious Diseases. He has also worked as a Rural Medical Doctor at Ano Kalentini Health Centre and Arta General Hospital, as well as a Military Doctor at Athens Naval Hospital. Since 2024, he has collaborated with the REVERSE organisation in the fields of antimicrobial stewardship, infection surveillance, and the implementation of infection prevention and control protocols. His professional development is further supported by continuous training in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Clinical Nutrition, and the management of infections.
Current Position
Since November 2025, Dr. Isaak Ovadias has been working as an Exclusive Consultant at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus. With particular expertise in infection management, Emergency Medicine, and antimicrobial stewardship, he provides comprehensive Internal Medicine care based on contemporary evidence-based clinical practice. His approach places particular emphasis on the prevention of complications, appropriate antimicrobial use, and individualised patient care.
