Education – Academic Background
Dr. Nektarios Rizakis graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Niš in Serbia in 1997. His medical degree was officially recognised in Greece by DIKATSA in 2000, and he obtained his licence to practise medicine in the same year. He completed his specialist training in Internal Medicine at Larissa General Hospital in 2008. During his specialist training, he gained clinical experience across several medical and surgical disciplines, including Surgery, Urology, Psychiatry, Oncology, and Intensive Care Medicine, developing a comprehensive clinical background in the management of complex medical conditions.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Nektarios Rizakis specialises in Internal Medicine, with a particular interest in chronic disease management, geriatric medicine, supportive oncology care, the management of patients with multiple comorbidities, and rehabilitation following serious illness or hospitalisation. He has extensive experience in the management of acute medical conditions, hospital-acquired infections, the care of elderly patients, and the individualised follow-up of patients in both community and hospital settings.
Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Nektarios Rizakis has more than fifteen years of clinical and professional experience as a Specialist in Internal Medicine across public and private healthcare settings in Greece, France, and Cyprus. Throughout his career, he has served as Director of Internal Medicine Departments in private clinics in Larissa, provided specialist medical care in rehabilitation centres, and collaborated with oncology units. He has also worked in hospitals in France, providing clinical care in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, and Rehabilitation Units. In 2024, he worked as an Internal Medicine Specialist at Ygia Polyclinic Private Hospital in Limassol. His extensive clinical experience across different healthcare systems has contributed to his expertise in hospital-based Internal Medicine, geriatric care, rehabilitation, and the management of complex patients with multiple medical conditions.
Current Position
Since November 2025, Dr. Nektarios Rizakis has been working as an Exclusive Consultant Physician at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus. With extensive experience in Internal Medicine, chronic disease management, geriatric medicine, and hospital-based care, he provides comprehensive and individualised medical services tailored to each patient’s clinical needs. His clinical approach places particular emphasis on comprehensive patient assessment, prevention of complications, continuity of care, and improving patients’ overall health and quality of life.
