The Paediatric Surgery Department of Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus is a modern and specialised surgical unit dedicated to the diagnosis, surgical treatment, and postoperative care of infants, children, and adolescents, providing comprehensive, high-quality paediatric surgical services in accordance with current international standards.
The Department covers the full spectrum of modern Paediatric Surgery, treating:
- congenital abnormalities (in addition to paediatric surgical emergencies)
- childhood injuries
- conditions of the gastrointestinal and urinary systems
- paediatric oncological surgical conditions
- soft tissue conditions and surgical infections
The Paediatric Surgery Department provides:
- specialised paediatric surgical assessment by appointment or at the Accident & Emergency Department (A&E), when deemed necessary
- scheduled and emergency paediatric surgical procedures
- minimally invasive surgical techniques, including laparoscopy for hernias, appendicitis and other acute abdominal conditions; gastrostomy placement; and gynaecological conditions in children and adolescents, such as ovarian cysts and masses, ovarian torsion, etc.
- comprehensive postoperative follow-up and rehabilitation of paediatric patients
The Accident & Emergency Department (A&E), through an organised 24-hour, 365-day on-call service, ensures an immediate response in the management of paediatric surgical emergencies and collaborates with the Paediatric Surgery Department to ensure continuity of care or emergency assessment where deemed necessary.
