The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of our hospital represents a space of modern medical care, offering urgent and specialized care to patients in critical condition. The unit’s equipment is specialized and advanced, allowing safe and effective monitoring and life support for patients.
The healthcare professionals that make up the unit are specialized and experienced in caring for critically ill patients, ensuring the best possible treatment and immediate response to any need. The ICU is specialized in managing severe and life-threatening conditions such as serious accidents, post-operative complications, and severe infections.
In the ICU, safety and vigilance are priorities. Our patients receive continuous and tailored care from experienced staff, with their condition closely monitored for an immediate response to any changes. Throughout the 24-hour period, the following techniques can be applied:
- Endotracheal intubation
- Application of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
- Catheterization of arteries, central veins, and pulmonary artery
- Placement and maintenance of a temporary cardiac pacemaker
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Chest drainage
- Therapeutic and diagnostic bronchoscopy
- Cricothyroidotomy
- Percutaneous tracheostomy
- Continuous renal replacement therapy (hemodialysis)
- Electrocardiography and continuous monitoring of vital functions
- Continuous measurement and monitoring of hemodynamic parameters, mixed venous oxygen saturation, and extravascular pulmonary water with minimally invasive methods
- Transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, chest, abdominal, and vascular ultrasound, as well as transcranial ultrasound
- Placement and operation of intra-aortic balloon pump
- Measurement of lactate, electrolytes, glucose, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and blood gas analysis, as well as measurement of cardiac troponin, myoglobin, D-dimers, and Pro-BNP.
