Dr. Georgios Karvelas was born on January 14, 1989, in Ioannina, Greece, where he also grew up. From September 2006 to July 2012, he studied at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, graduating with honors (“Very Good”). In October 2013, he began his professional career in the Rural Health Service, P.I in Greece.
From May to August 2015, he worked as a private physician in Rethymno. He then continued as a Resident in Internal Medicine at the 3rd University Pathology Clinic, “Sotiria” Thoracic Diseases Hospital, Athens, Greece, under the direction of Prof. K.N. Syrigos, for three years until 2018. During this time, he attended seminars that earned him a specialty title in Cardiology and completed the Advanced Life Support Provider Course (offered by the Hellenic Cardiological Society). He also participated in numerous clinical studies, including those related to COVID-19 infections, techniques involving the latest ultrasound advancements, and the AFFIII registry of the European Union. He frequently gave presentations at workshops and conferences.
Before making the significant decision to relocate to Cyprus, Dr. Karvelas worked for four years as a Specialist Cardiologist in the Cardiology Clinic at “Elpis” Hospital, Athens, Greece, under the direction of Assoc. Prof. A. Trikas. Since February 2023, he has been employed at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus as a Specialist Cardiologist.
