Dr. Dimitrios Tagkoulis was born and raised in Athens. He began his career by earning his degree from the Sapienza University of Rome in Italy. His initial steps in medicine were taken by serving as a Rural Doctor at the remote regional medical center of Katomeri, Lefkada, from 2012 to 2013. He then pursued specialization in Internal Medicine at the General Hospital of Chios “Skylitseio,” where he also completed part of his Cardiology training.
From 2016 to 2019, he further developed his expertise in assessing cardiac patients, managing cardiology wards, particularly the infarction unit, and handling acute cardiac cases in the Emergency Department at one of Athens’ largest hospitals (Red Cross Hospital). He obtained his specialty title at the Korgialenio-Benakio Hospital of the Hellenic Red Cross in Athens.
Since 2020, Dr. Tagkoulis has been working as a specialist cardiologist at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus. He has also specialized in modern cardiology practices, including echocardiography and Holter monitoring analysis. Furthermore, he has participated in advanced invasive and non-invasive cardiology techniques such as transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), stress echocardiography, coronary angiography, and stent placement (catheterization), as well as arrhythmia ablations and the implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators (ICD).
