Dr. Kyriakos Panayidis completed his undergraduate studies in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He then continued at the University of Alberta, initially studying Biochemistry, and graduated with honors. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Medical Science and Medical Degree from the same university. Dr. Panayidis remained at the University of Alberta for his General Surgery residency, where he gained vast experience in all areas of Adult and Pediatric Surgery, especially during his final year as a Senior Resident. After excelling in the Canadian General Surgery exams, he became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Panayidis then specialized in Pediatric Surgery at the University of Texas, based in Houston, Texas. During his specialization, he worked at Texas Children’s Hospital (one of the largest pediatric hospitals in North America), Memorial Hermann Hospital, and MD Anderson Cancer Center (a globally renowned oncology hospital). Upon completing his Pediatric Surgery fellowship, Dr. Panayidis worked for 4 years at Des Moines Hospital in Iowa and then for 11 years at Cook Children’s Hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth. He gained extensive experience in neonatal surgeries and high-difficulty surgeries at Cook Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Panayidis now resides in Cyprus with his wife and six children. He is the Director of the Pediatric Surgery Department at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus.
