Education – Academic Background
Dr. Zoe Evangelou graduated from the School of Medicine of the University of Ioannina in 2013, completing her medical studies within six years. She subsequently completed her specialist training in Pathology at the University Hospital of Ioannina, gaining extensive experience in the morphological assessment and diagnosis of pathological specimens. During her specialist training, she was actively involved in the education of medical students and the supervision of examinations as a Teaching Assistant. She also holds a PhD from the University of Ioannina, awarded with distinction, for her doctoral research on the tumour microenvironment of breast carcinoma in young women.

Dr. Zoe Evangelou specialises in Pathology, with particular expertise in breast pathology and a strong interest in bone and soft tissue pathology. She is committed to the continuous development of her diagnostic expertise through participation in educational seminars, scientific conferences, and clinical studies, remaining up to date with contemporary advances in Pathology and diagnostic practice.
Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Zoe Evangelou’s academic background and active involvement in educational and scientific activities have contributed to the development of a particular research interest in the tumour microenvironment, a rapidly evolving field within Pathology and Oncology. This research focus formed the basis of her doctoral thesis on the microenvironment of breast carcinoma in young women, which she completed with distinction, further contributing to her expertise and involvement in contemporary pathology research.
Current Position
Dr. Zoe Evangelou works as a Pathologist and Director of the Pathology Laboratory at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, where she contributes to the provision of specialised diagnostic pathology services. In parallel, she is a Scientific Associate at European University Cyprus, where she teaches Pathology and conducts practical laboratory sessions, actively contributing to the education and training of future physicians.
