Education – Academic Background
Dr. Maria Giaka graduated from the School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2006. She subsequently completed her rural medical service at the Messopotamia Health Centre in the Kastoria region of Greece (2006–2008). She then completed her specialist training in Internal Medicine at the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete (2008–2013), where she obtained her specialist qualification in Internal Medicine. She also holds a Master’s Degree in “Management of Ageing and Chronic Diseases” from the Hellenic Open University.

Dr. Maria Giaka’s main scientific and clinical interests include Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, chronic disease management, infectious diseases, geriatric medicine, and metabolic disorders. She has a particular interest in the comprehensive management of patients with chronic and complex medical conditions, with an emphasis on continuous clinical follow-up and individualised therapeutic approaches tailored to each patient’s needs.
Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Maria Giaka has contributed to scientific publications and participated in medical conferences, supporting her continuous scientific and professional development in the field of Internal Medicine. She also regularly participates in educational programmes and continuing medical education activities, with a particular focus on the management of infectious diseases, geriatric medicine, and metabolic disorders, incorporating current scientific evidence and developments into her clinical practice.
Current Position
Since 2022, Dr. Maria Giaka has been working as an Exclusive Consultant Physician at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, serving as a Specialist in Internal Medicine within the Department of Medical Oncology. She provides comprehensive medical care to patients with oncological and internal medicine conditions and actively contributes to their multidisciplinary management and ongoing clinical follow-up.
