Education – Academic Background
Dr. Georgios Tsimopoulos graduated from the Tashkent State Medical Institute in Uzbekistan. Following the completion of his medical studies, he served as a Rural Medical Doctor in the Kilkis region of Greece from 1984 to 1986. In 1992, he obtained his specialist qualification in General Surgery at “Elpis” General Hospital in Athens. He subsequently specialised in Radiation Oncology at “Agios Savvas” Anticancer Hospital in Athens, completing his specialist training in 2003.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Georgios Tsimopoulos specialises in Radiation Oncology, with a particular interest in modern radiotherapy for the treatment of solid tumours, the development of individualised treatment plans, and the multidisciplinary management of oncology patients. He has extensive experience in the treatment of malignancies affecting a wide range of organs, with a focus on achieving optimal therapeutic outcomes while preserving patients’ quality of life.
Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Georgios Tsimopoulos has extensive professional and scientific experience gained through a longstanding career at hospitals and oncology centres in Greece and Cyprus. He served as a Scientific Associate in the Department of Radiation Oncology at “Agios Savvas” Anticancer Hospital in Athens and subsequently as a Consultant in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University Hospital of Ioannina. His many years of involvement in clinical oncology and radiation therapy have provided him with significant experience in the management of complex oncology cases and the application of contemporary radiotherapy techniques and treatment approaches.
Current Position
Since April 2024, Dr. Georgios Tsimopoulos has been working as an Exclusive Consultant Physician at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing specialised Radiation Oncology services. Prior to joining the Hospital, he worked for several years in the Oncology Department of Limassol General Hospital (2010–2024). With extensive experience in Oncology and Radiation Therapy, he contributes to the provision of comprehensive and individualised care for oncology patients, applying contemporary therapeutic approaches in accordance with international scientific standards.
