Education – Academic Background
Dr. Marios Ieronymou studied Medicine in Greece and began his specialist training by completing the first part of his training at Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens. He subsequently completed the specialised part of his training at Metaxa Cancer Hospital and Hippokration General Hospital in Athens, acquiring comprehensive training in Cardiac Surgery.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Marios Ieronymou specialises in Cardiac Surgery, with a particular interest in the surgical treatment of coronary artery disease and total arterial revascularisation.
His areas of interest also include aortic and mitral valve surgery, as well as the surgical management of cardiac arrhythmias, applying modern and individualised therapeutic approaches tailored to each patient’s needs.
Research and Scientific Work
Following the completion of his specialist training, Dr. Marios Ieronymou worked in the United Kingdom at three major internationally recognised cardiac surgery centres: University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust, The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, and Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
His professional experience within the UK healthcare system provided him with extensive exposure to the management of complex cardiac surgery cases and the implementation of modern clinical protocols, further strengthening his scientific knowledge and surgical expertise.
Current Position
Since June 2026, Dr. Marios Ieronymou has been working as an Exclusive In-House Consultant at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, where he provides specialised cardiac surgical care and contributes to the management of a wide range of cardiac conditions requiring surgical treatment, in accordance with current international standards and best practices.
