Education – Academic Background
Dr. Spyridon Spanakos graduated from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2011. He subsequently obtained a Master of Science (MSc) with distinction in Surgical Anatomy from the same Medical School in 2019, followed by a PhD with distinction in Bariatric Surgery in 2022. He received specialist training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Greece and the United Kingdom, including training in Bradford and Leeds, and obtained his specialist qualification in Plastic Surgery in Greece in October 2023. In April 2024, he was also awarded the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery qualification (FEBOPRAS) in Vienna.

Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Spyridon Spanakos actively participates in international educational programmes and specialised surgical courses, with particular emphasis on microsurgery, limb reconstruction, and aesthetic plastic surgery. His advanced training includes participation in specialised courses and programmes such as BSS, BAPRAS training, the Oxford Hand Surgery Course, as well as international training programmes in microsurgery and skin reconstruction. His ongoing educational activity reflects his commitment to continuous professional development and contemporary practices in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
Current Position
Since June 2024, Dr. Spyridon Spanakos has been working as an Exclusive Consultant at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, providing specialised services in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and actively contributing to the Hospital’s clinical practice.
