Education – Academic Background
Dr. Alexandros Patsouras graduated from the School of Medicine of the University of Patras in 2017. He subsequently completed a Master’s Degree in “Informatics with Applications in Biomedicine” at the University of Thessaly in 2021. He received training in Emergency Medicine through the National Centre for Emergency Care (EKAB) in Athens (2021–2022) and subsequently pursued specialised training in Interventional Pulmonology, bronchoscopy, and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS). In 2025, he completed further training in Interventional Pulmonology at Thoraxklinik Heidelberg in Germany. He also obtained the European Respiratory Society (ERS) HERMES European Diploma in Adult Respiratory Medicine, as well as European certification in endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS).
Areas of Interest
Dr. Alexandros Patsouras specialises in Pulmonology and Tuberculosis, with a particular interest in Interventional Pulmonology, bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), medical thoracoscopy, lung cancer, and the management of complex respiratory diseases. He has experience in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory conditions, thoracic ultrasound, pulmonary rehabilitation, and the clinical follow-up of patients with lung cancer and sarcoidosis. His clinical interests focus on the application of modern diagnostic and interventional techniques to provide comprehensive and individualised respiratory care.
Research and Scientific Work
Dr. Alexandros Patsouras has an extensive scientific and research background, with continuous participation in national and international respiratory medicine conferences. He has 36 publications indexed in PubMed, in addition to numerous scientific abstracts and presentations at medical conferences. In 2023, he delivered an oral presentation at the European Cystic Fibrosis Conference in Milan. Since March 2024, he has been a PhD candidate at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with his research focusing on the effects of lipoic acid in lung transplantation. His ongoing involvement in clinical research, scientific publications, and international educational activities reflects his commitment to the advancement of Respiratory Medicine and Interventional Pulmonology.
Current Position
Since November 2025, Dr. Alexandros Patsouras has been working as an Exclusive Consultant at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus. With specialised expertise in Interventional Pulmonology and significant experience in the management of complex respiratory conditions, he provides comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic, and follow-up services for patients with respiratory diseases. His clinical practice incorporates modern diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based medicine and individualised patient care.
