Education – Academic Background
Dr. Elena Lemesiou-Konstantinou graduated with distinction from the First Medical Institute of Saint Petersburg in 1993. She subsequently trained in Internal Medicine and specialised in Hematology, obtaining her specialist qualification in Athens in 2002. During her training at “Agios Savvas” Hospital, she gained comprehensive experience in Clinical Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, Laboratory Hematology, Blood Transfusion Medicine, Thalassemia and coagulation disorders. She also received specialised training in hemophilia, bleeding disorders and hemolytic anemias at the “Agia Sofia” Children’s Hospital in Athens.

Dr. Elena Lemesiou-Konstantinou practices across the full spectrum of Clinical Hematology, with particular interest in:
- Diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of benign hematological disorders
- Diagnosis and management of malignant hematological diseases
- Investigation of abnormalities in complete blood counts
- Microscopic evaluation of peripheral blood
- Bone marrow aspiration and assessment
- Bone marrow biopsies
- Coagulation and bleeding disorders
Her extensive clinical career in hospitals in Greece and Cyprus, including her longstanding service in the Hematology Department of Nicosia General Hospital, has provided her with considerable experience in the management of complex hematological conditions.
Scientific and Research Work
Dr. Elena Lemesiou-Konstantinou maintains an active scientific and educational presence, participating in Greek and international conferences, scientific publications and presentations. Since 2015, she has served as a Special Scientific Associate at the Medical School of the University of Cyprus, contributing to the education of medical students through lectures and clinical teaching in Hematology. Her continuous involvement in scientific and educational activities reflects her commitment to the advancement of hematological knowledge and to the education of future generations of physicians.
Current Position
Since April 2024, Dr. Elena Lemesiou-Konstantinou has been an Exclusive Associate Physician at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus and Director of the Hematology Department. She provides specialised diagnostic, therapeutic and follow-up care for patients with hematological disorders while actively contributing to the development of the Hospital’s hematology services.
