Education – Academic Background
Dr. Georgios Kehagias was born on 15 May 1975 and studied Medicine at the University of Padua in Italy from 1994 to 2002, graduating with a score of 98/110 (“Excellent”). During the 2000–2001 academic year, he was awarded an Erasmus–Socrates scholarship and attended the School of Medicine of the University of Granada in Spain. His medical thesis focused on Hepatology and Biotechnology. In 2003, he completed his clinical training and obtained his licence to practise medicine in Italy. He subsequently trained at the School of Specialisation in Gastroenterology at the University of Udine, supported by an Italian government scholarship. He later completed his specialist training in Gastroenterology at Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens (2011–2015), obtaining his specialist qualification. In 2015, he was certified by the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (EBGH), obtaining the European Diploma in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Scientific and Research Work
Dr. Georgios Kehagias has extensive research experience, including participation in the design and implementation of clinical studies and involvement as a sub-investigator in international Phase III clinical trials. His scientific work includes 12 full-text publications in international PubMed-indexed journals, more than 20 presentations at international conferences and over 20 presentations at Greek scientific conferences. He has also attended more than 80 scientific conferences and educational seminars. He received the Best Abstract Award at the Excellence in Oncology Conference in Athens in 2010 and has been awarded scholarships by the European Society of Digestive Oncology (ESDO) and the Italian Government. His additional specialised training includes Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Clinical Hepatology, Oncology, and Sedation & Analgesia in Endoscopy.
Current Position
Since February 2025, Dr. Georgios Kehagias has been an Exclusive Consultant Physician at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal diseases, interventional endoscopy, and complex gastroenterological and hepatological conditions, providing comprehensive and personalised medical care to his patients.
