The Nephrology Department at Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus is a modern, comprehensive unit dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of kidney and urinary tract diseases, providing highly specialised nephrology care to both outpatients and inpatients.

The Department covers the full spectrum of modern nephrology and fully supports the hospital’s needs on both a scheduled and emergency basis, providing prompt and specialised care for patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases.

The Nephrology Department manages:

  • Acute and chronic kidney disease
  • Hypertension
  • Electrolyte and acid-base disorders
  • Glomerulonephritis

  • Nephrotic syndrome
  • Systemic diseases with renal involvement
  • Complex metabolic and nephrological disorders

The Department operates dedicated Nephrology Outpatient Clinics, providing:

  • Specialised nephrology assessment
  • Preventive kidney function screening
  • Long-term follow-up of patients with chronic kidney disease
  • Personalised treatment plans in accordance with current international guidelines

In addition, the Nephrology Department actively supports the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) by providing specialised management of acute kidney injury and complex nephrology cases in critically ill patients.

Services

Nephrology Outpatient Department

The Nephrology Outpatient Department provides comprehensive care across the full spectrum of kidney diseases, as well as the investigation of patients with primary and secondary hypertension.

More specifically, the Department manages patients with primary and secondary glomerular diseases, including those associated with autoimmune diseases, amyloidosis, diabetes mellitus and other conditions.

Patients with tubulointerstitial diseases of all causes and inherited kidney disorders are also managed, with access to innovative treatment options.

The Nephrology Outpatient Department also investigates and treats patients with electrolyte and acid-base disorders.

The availability of comprehensive diagnostic support, including the Clinical Laboratory, Histopathology Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging Department, enables the Department to manage even the most complex nephrology cases independently.
