The specialty of General Surgery covers surgical diseases of the abdomen and all its organs, as well as conditions of the breast, thyroid, and skin. It is associated with both benign diseases (e.g., inguinal hernia, cholelithiasis) and oncological surgery (e.g., pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, or colon cancer) and involves both routine, planned cases and the management of emergency situations.
