The Emergency Department operates on a 24/07/365 basis, with the ongoing presence of a General Practitioner (doctor) being a resident and nurses.

Presently, the Emergency Department is staffed with five doctors and nursing staff on a shift system.

The Department can treat cases of any specialty, always being supported by the Radiology/imaging department and the Clinical laboratory

In cases where the involvement of a specialist is required, the specialist is invited from the daily On Call rota to get involved

In cases of highly acute patients or trauma patients, the Rescue Team and/or Trauma Team

are called in respectively, being staffed by fully qualified and specialized professional medical and paramedical staff.

The treatment of highly acute patients or trauma patients is always executed by Internationally Accepted Directions (ACLS/ATLS).

When a patient is stabilized, all required radiology and clinical lab tests are done and the patient is directed either to the Operating Theatres, should an operation is needed, or to the Intensive Care Unit for further therapeutic treatment.
