Dr. Spyridon Karabekios is a Radiologist and Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Medical School of the University of Crete. He completed his medical studies at the University of Athens (1977-1984) and specialized in Radiology at the Radiology Department of the University of Athens at the Aretaeio Hospital (1985-1990). He then pursued further specialization in Neuroimaging at academic hospitals in the United States (UC San Diego, UC San Francisco).
Dr. Karabekios worked at the University Hospital of Heraklion (1990-2010), initially as an Associate and later as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor. He was also the Head of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Unit at the University Hospital from 1998 to 2008.
Since 2015, he has served as President, CEO, and Scientific Director of the Diagnostic Radiology Center “Ygeia Lasithiou” in Agios Nikolaos, Lasithi. Additionally, since 2020, he has been the Scientific Director of the Imaging Department at Euromedica Health Units in Crete.
In the private sector, he worked at the Asclepius Diagnostic Center and the private clinic Creta Interclinic in Heraklion (2008-2017). He also served as Director of the Radiology Department at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus from 2017 to 2019, and continues to collaborate as an Associate Radiologist at the hospital.
His extensive background in radiology and neuroimaging, combined with his leadership roles in both academic and private healthcare settings, highlight his prominent position in the field of diagnostic radiology.
